Ministry of Defense: it is necessary to demine 470 thousand hectares of agricultural land

Over 470,000 hectares. agricultural lands are subject to inspection during demining.

These are territories in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Kharkiv regions, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“More than 1,000 specialists and 17 mechanized demining vehicles from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, the State Emergency Service, the National Guard, the National Police and mine action operators are involved in this task,” the Ministry of Defense said.

So far, almost 188,000 hectares of agricultural land have been surveyed, of which 124,000 hectares need to be cleared. As part of the operational response, 76,000 hectares have already been cleared, and more than 7,800 hectares require humanitarian demining measures, which are carried out by mine action operators.
