Moldova can also limit the import of Ukrainian agricultural products

Moldova intends to join the decision of the European Union to temporarily limit grain imports from Ukraine.

We are talking about the introduction of a temporary restriction on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower originating from Ukraine, the Ministry of Agriculture of Moldova reported . However, it is planned to allow grain transit.

According to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova, Volodymyr Boli, there is a significant amount of grain in Moldovan warehouses, “and this causes farmers to fear that they will not have enough space for the new harvest.”

“The trend of grain exports from Moldova is downward, logistics costs have increased, and prices on international exchanges have collapsed. Our farmers need to use their grain reserves as effectively as possible and prepare for the new agricultural season,” Bolya told Solsky.

During the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, on the other hand, noted that the grounds for such a decision are unclear, since Ukraine does not import these crops to the Republic of Moldova.
