More than 500 wagons are idle at the Ukrainian-Polish border
On the Ukrainian-Polish border, more than 500 cement trucks, mineral trucks and semi-wagons with grain loads have already accumulated.
The situation at the border was discussed during a meeting on increasing the capacity of border crossings with Poland on Thursday, November 10, Rail.insider reports.
Wagons are idle due to refusal of cargo by the sanitary service of Poland.
The convention on the transportation of grain other than in grain trucks through the Izov station was introduced on November 3, and on November 11 another ban on such transportation to the Shchebrzesyn station should be introduced.
The Ukrainian railwaymen proposed to mark “not for food purposes” in the “name of cargo” column of the waybill. Thus, it will be possible to indicate that the cargo in cement trucks, mineral trucks and semi-wagons is not intended for human consumption, but as fodder for animals. They also offer to issue a corresponding telegram regarding the wagons that have accumulated at the border.
Representatives of the Polish company PKP LHS promised to consult with colleagues from the sanitary service. In addition, they requested information about the recipients of the cargo in order to understand its destination.
The problem at the border arose at the beginning of November – at that time there were 350 stuck wagons.
