NABU completed the investigation into the case of grain from the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine worth UAH 776 million

The scheme worked because the original bills of lading ended up with the buyer without payment.

This is reported by Latifundist.

NABU and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office have completed the investigation into the case of the seizure of grain by JSC “State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine” worth UAH 776 million, or $28.8 million at the exchange rate at the time of the crime. The materials of the criminal case were opened to the defense, the NABU press service reports.

According to the investigation, in 2021, the management of the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine concluded four foreign economic contracts with a non-resident company for the supply of feed corn. The contracts provided for 100% payment for the goods until the transfer of ownership.

Despite this, the original bills of lading ended up with the buyer company without payment. This allowed the ships to be unloaded without hindrance and the unpaid grain to be disposed of. As a result of the scheme, the corporation lost almost 106 thousand tons of grain.

To conceal the crime, copies of bills of lading with forged signatures and seals were left at the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine.

The organizers legalized the funds from the sale of grain through bank transfers to mix them with legal income, and also purchased raw materials and property for controlled enterprises.

In April 2026, NABU and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office exposed the scheme and reported suspicion to five individuals whom the investigation considers to be members of an organized group. Among the suspects is the former head of the corporation Vlasenko.

This is not the only case of embezzlement of grain from the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine. Separately, proceedings against Fedorychev for the appropriation of $60 million in grain from the corporation were transferred to the court.
