NBU presented the commemorative coin “Antonivskyi Bridge”
By the anniversary of the liberation of Kherson region, the commemorative coin “Antonivskyi Bridge” will appear in circulation.
On November 10, the NBU introduced a new circulation commemorative coin “Antonivskyi Myst”, the National Bank reported.
The coin is dedicated to the most remembered wartime bridge in Ukraine – one of the three key crossings across the Dnipro in the Kherson region, a strategically important facility for the region and the country as a whole.
According to the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshnyi, on the anniversary of the liberation of Kherson Region from the occupiers, the bank minted a coin that will be in circulation every day and will symbolically “remind the unity, courage and endurance of the Ukrainian people in the face of Russian aggression.”
A year ago, during the escape from the right bank of the Dnipro, the aggressor’s troops blew up the Antoniv bridge, destroying several of its spans. Now it is destroyed, but it is waiting for the victory of Ukraine and post-war reconstruction.
The coin design
According to its characteristics, the circulation commemorative coin “Antonivskyi Bridge” is identical to the ordinary circulation coin with a denomination of 10 UAH of the 2018 model.
However, its reverse is thematic and contains a stylized image of the Antoniv Bridge and the Dnipro River from a bird’s eye view, as well as traffic junctions at both ends of the bridge.
The obverse of the coin is identical to the obverse of the 10 UAH circulation coin of the 2018 model, on it in the center, in the frame of the Old Russian ornament, the denomination of the coin, the year of minting and the coat of arms of Ukraine are placed.
Circulation and implementation of the coin
The National Bank will support banks and SIT companies with circulating commemorative coins for their further issuance to customers. These coins will also be accepted from customers as ordinary circulation coins with a denomination of 10 UAH. Almost 10 million pieces of such circulating commemorative coins will gradually be introduced into cash circulation.
