New EU sanctions package will include captains of Russia’s “shadow fleet” — Vlasyuk

For the first time, specific individuals who control vessels that help circumvent oil sanctions will be included in the list of restrictions.

In the coming days, the EU will adopt a new package of sanctions against Russia, which will include captains of the “shadow fleet” for the first time. This was announced by the Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasyuk during a telethon.

“It will have quite good positions. And I consider this to be our big victory — the proposals already include captains of the shadow fleet,” Vlasyuk said.

He also confirmed that the focus of the sanctions policy remains the fight against Russian oil exports. Work on reducing oil prices will continue, in particular in the G7 format. Vlasyuk clarified that the issue of reducing the price cap is currently in a 50/50 mode, but the discussion is ongoing.

The day before, USM wrote that Australia had imposed sanctions against the board of directors of Sovcomflot.
