New Zealand imposes new sanctions on 65 Russian tankers

New Zealand has announced the expansion of sanctions against the Russian oil industry and imposed new sanctions against 65 vessels of the so-called “shadow fleet”.

This is reported by Reuters.

New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters announced the imposition of sanctions on 65 vessels of the so-called shadow fleet.

Restrictions have also been imposed on individuals and legal entities from Belarus, Iran and North Korea involved in the processing and transportation of Russian oil, as well as conducting related financial transactions.

“These participants are part of a wider network that allows the trade in Russian oil, undermining global efforts to reduce the financing of Russia’s illegal war. By striking the oil supply chain, New Zealand strongly supports international attempts to force Russia to sit at the negotiating table,” Winston Peters noted.

Earlier, USM reported that Ukraine and New Zealand discussed cooperation in the production of naval drones.
