Nibulon receives new funding to develop maritime mine clearance in Ukraine

Nibulon has launched a new phase of its humanitarian demining initiative by signing a €7.8 million financing agreement with Germany’s DEG Impulse gGmbH.
The agreement was signed as part of the develoPPP program. According to Nibulon, this phase of the partnership focuses on marine and inland water demining, a critical area for the company.
The initiative will finance the creation of a 90-meter offshore platform capable of performing demining operations using modern unmanned underwater systems – including ROVs (remotely operated vehicles), AUVs (autonomous underwater vehicles) and other UUS (unmanned underwater systems).
“The platform’s operations will be fully integrated into the company’s broader humanitarian demining ecosystem, which includes agricultural land clearance, the establishment of a technical service center and the deployment of a mobile rapid response infrastructure,” Nibulon said.
The platform will be built at the company’s own shipbuilding and ship repair yard. Thanks to its own production facilities, the company provides a full cycle of project implementation – from engineering and construction to technical equipment and commissioning.
Expected socio-economic impact of the project:
• demining of over 10 km² of the Black Sea and inland waterways in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions – critically important for safe grain exports and shipping;
• clearing of additional 13,600+ hectares of agricultural land;
• improving living conditions for over 3,000 people, including residents of coastal communities;
• restoring safe land use for over 200 farms;
• annual production of over 70,000 tons of high-quality grain;
• creation of new jobs and training of over 60 specialists – sappers, operators and divers.
Previously, Nibulon appointed a new head of strategic business development.
