Odesa Port switches to tariffs in euros due to synchronization with EU norms

The State Enterprise “Odesa Sea Trade Port” announced the transition to calculating the cost of port fleet services in euros.
The new conditions will come into force in 15 calendar days. This is stated in a letter from the state enterprise, which is at the disposal of the USM editorial office.
The port explains the decision by Ukraine’s desire for European integration and the need to harmonize with the economic and legal norms of the EU. In particular, it is about fulfilling the terms of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, adapting to European standards and harmonizing macroeconomic policy.
The port also emphasizes that most EU regulations and directives related to the economy, infrastructure and transport use the euro as the main currency. Ukraine’s main trading partners are in the EU, and a significant part of export-import operations is carried out in euros. In addition, such a link will reduce currency risks and facilitate the attraction of investments from EU countries.
Payments for the services provided will be made in euros, and for vessels flying the Ukrainian flag – in hryvnia at the official exchange rate of the NBU on the date of service provision. Payment for services provided for vessels flying other flags (regardless of
the charterers) will be made in euros, in accordance with the procedure established by the NBU regulatory documents.
The cost of handling 1 cubic meter of a cargo vessel module by tugs during mooring operations is set in euros (excluding VAT) and is:
• mooring, unmooring – 0.2276 euros per 1 cubic meter/operation;
• remooring of vessels from berth to berth, unmooring of vessels – 0.292 euros per 1 cubic meter/operation.
