Oil products were illegally dumped from the port in the Odessa region

Odesa Prosecutor’s Office has revealed a “scheme” of illegal utilization of port waste.
During the investigation, it turned out that the suspect, working as a truck driver, provided services for loading/unloading and transporting waste to one of the Ukrainian enterprises in Ukraine for waste disposal.
Further, the company involved the suspect in an illegal scheme for handling pollutants on the territory of the Odesa region.
Law enforcers documented the fact that the driver had drained the substance, namely, ballast water containing oil products exported from the territory of the state seaport for the purpose of further disposal.
The suspect dumped hazardous substances on a land plot near a transport company, without prior disposal. The prosecutor’s office estimated the damage to the environment at more than UAH 500 thousand (USD 18.3 thousand).
