Oil spill recorded in the Gulf of Oman after accident with tanker of the Russian “shadow fleet”

The oil spill was discovered after two tankers collided in the Strait of Hormuz, one of which belongs to the so-called “shadow fleet” of Russia.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, June 17, when the tankers Front Eagle and Adalynn collided off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, writes Splash 24/7.
Although the tanker Frontline did not leak oil, an oil slick is leaking from the Adalynn.
According to the international organization Greenpeace, satellite images from June 18 show that the spill area exceeds 15 square kilometers and is rapidly expanding.
The United Arab Emirates also released some details of the collision.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced that preliminary information regarding the accidental collision of two vessels in the Sea of Oman, approximately 24 nautical miles off the coast of the UAE, indicates that the incident was caused by a navigation error on the part of one of the vessels, with a GPS spoof clearly visible a few hours before the collision.
Recall that the 23-year-old tanker Adalynn flies under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, and there is no information about its insurer in industry databases. The vessel has often been seen on the route between the Russian port of Ust-Luga in the Baltic Sea and Vadinar on the western coast of India.
Earlier, USM reported that this tanker is on the “black list” on the War&Sanctions War&Sanctions platform of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The tanker was involved in the export of Russian oil/petroleum products from the Russian port of Ust-Luga, as well as using deceptive practices (disabling AIS, conducting shady activities in the Kola Bay area in November 2023, March-April 2024).
