Over 100 shadow fleet vessels and oil price caps: EU approves 18th package of sanctions against Russia

The European Union has approved the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. The EU called it “one of the toughest ever.”

The approval of the sanctions package was announced by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas on the social network X.

“We stand firm. The EU has just approved one of the strongest sanctions packages against Russia to date. We continue to reduce the Kremlin’s military budget, pursue another 105 shadow fleet vessels and their auxiliaries, and restrict Russian banks’ access to financing,” she wrote.

Kallas also noted that the sanctions will affect the Nord Stream pipelines, as well as a reduction in the upper limit on the price of Russian oil.

Earlier, USM reported that the Verkhovna Rada approved sanctions against the vessels of the Russian shadow fleet.
