Owner of Russian tanker that sank in Black Sea declared bankrupt

Volgatransneft, which owns one of the vessels that crashed in the Kerch Strait at the end of 2024, may go bankrupt.

According to the Unified Federal Register of Legal Entities of the Russian Federation, Volga-Bunker initiated the process of declaring Volgatransneft CJSC bankrupt. This is reported by “Crimea Realia”.

This is confirmed by the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court, issued on February 5, 2024.

In 2022, the companies concluded an agreement on the purchase and sale of six tankers of the Volgoneft series, including: Volgoneft-164, Volgoneft-206, Volgoneft-208, Volgoneft-219, Volgoneft-246, Volgoneft-264. The amount of the deal amounted to more than 6.5 million rubles, and the payment deadline is December 31, 2022.

Allegedly, the seller fulfilled its obligations, but Volgatransneft did not pay the money within the established period.

The arbitration court satisfied the claim of Volga-Bunker for the collection of the debt in full, and now the creditor is initiating the bankruptcy of the debtor company.

Earlier, USM reported that the accident of Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea caused an ecological disaster, which killed more than fifty dolphins.
