Poland and Lithuania will establish a railway connection with Ukraine

The new route will help create a corridor for the export of Ukrainian grain through the Baltic ports.

Lithuania and Poland plan to organize a regular railway freight route to Ukraine. This is reported by Rail.insider.

It is assumed that the new logistics route will help create a reliable corridor for the export of Ukrainian grain through the Baltic ports.

Cooperation between Poland and Lithuania regarding the creation of new routes with Ukraine is a critical issue. In particular, this cooperation is necessary to improve connections between Central Europe and the Baltic states, noted the Minister of Transport of Lithuania, Marius Skoudis.

The official emphasized the need to develop Trans-European transport networks (TEN-T). Now they already foresee a connection with Ukraine through the Dorogusk-Yagodin border crossing. In particular, TEN-T includes a rail connection to the port of Klaipėda in Lithuania.

It will be recalled that the President of Lithuania previously claimed that the Baltic ports can handle 10 million tons of Ukrainian grain per year.

USM recently wrote that the Metinvest group sent almost 2 million tons of cargo through the ports and railways of Poland.
