“Qendil” tanker hit by SBU drones runs aground near Turkey (video)

The “Qendil” tanker, part of the so-called “shadow fleet” and which was hit by naval drones in December 2025, ran aground in the Aegean Sea.

The video appeared on the page of the The Maritime in X review.

It is known that the vessel ran aground near the Turkish island of Bozcaada, located in the northern part of the Aegean Sea, near the exit from the Dardanelles Strait. Turkey has already sent two tugboats to the tanker, which are supposed to remove the vessel from the ground.

It will be recalled that the SBU hit the tanker on December 19, when it was passing through the neutral waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The vessel was not carrying any cargo, which avoided negative environmental consequences for the region.

As a result of the hit, the tanker suffered critical damage and is currently unusable. Presumably, the vessel lost its propulsion and was unable to continue moving on its own. There is also no confirmed information about the fate of the crew – it is possible that the ship could have been abandoned.

Earlier, USM reported that in the neutral waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the SBU’s “Alpha” hit a tanker of the Russian “shadow fleet” with drones.
