Rates for UZ grain wagons increased due to high demand

Rates on Ukrzaliznytsia grain trucks increased by more than 50% in December.

The increase in rates is related to the high demand for this type of rolling stock, Valeriya Tkacheva, deputy director of the department of commercial work of the UZ, reported on Facebook.

According to him, in the last three months, the level of utilization of UZ grain wagons exceeds 90%. Therefore, according to the current rate revision procedure, the basic rate of payment for the use of a UZ wagon “should increase to the marginal (maximum) rate, which is currently UAH 4,300/day for a grain truck.”

Tkachev added that the average cost of using grain trucks at auctions is already higher than the announced figure.

“All available UZ grain-carrying wagons are sold at open auctions of Prozorro.Prodazhi.” According to the results of the last auctions, the average rate for grain wagons of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” is: auction 22.11.2022 (600 ZRV) – UAH 5,007.67/day; auctions on November 23, 2022 (2540 ZRV) – UAH 5,160.57/day; 260 ZRV remained unrealized at the auction,” the official said.

He stated that the increase in the actual rate to UAH 4,300/day, which is only the starting rate at auctions, is not an actual increase in the value of the wagon, but corresponds to “the dynamics of changes in the market value of the wagon under current conditions.”

The increase in the cost of using wagons at auctions, according to Tkachev, is connected with the continuation of the “grain agreement” and the corresponding increase in demand for grain trucks.
