Rates on UZ grain trucks soared more than 25 times in two months

At the auctions on November 11, the average weighted rate reached 5378 UAH/day excluding VAT.
The average weighted cost of grain trucks at the auctions of “Prozorro.Prodazhi” on November 11 reached 5378 UAH/day excluding VAT. This is the highest figure since 2023, reports Rail.insider.
In September, the price was only 200 UAH/day, in October this figure approached 2000 UAH. Thus, in two months the cost of renting cars increased more than 25 times.
According to the director of the publication, Kostyantyn Gapiy, the rapid growth of rates is associated with a violation of the logistical balance: the load exceeds the unloading by 275 cars daily. This leads to the accumulation of loaded grain trucks in the network and a shortage of empty ones, which increases demand.
In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia grain carriers have additional advantages: the company guarantees 100% delivery under load and is responsible for performance, unlike private operators who depend on the actions of the carrier. Such reliability makes the state operator’s wagons especially attractive in conditions of rolling stock shortage.
As USM recently wrote, almost 9,000 wagons with grain are sent to the ports of Great Odesa every day.
