Reni Maritime Transport Port paid off all the land and salary debts

The port of Reni paid off the “hopeless” debt for the land in the amount of more than 80 million UAH.

After russian aggression led to the blockade of Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea, a huge flow of export grain went to the port of Reni. The unexpected increase in the volume of cargo handling significantly increased the company’s income, and as a result, the port paid off all its debts, YuG.Today writes.

“Currently, we have a significant budget overrun. The Port of Reni paid off the land debt to the community in the amount of over 80 million UAH. Thus, this debt has been paid in full,” said Lyudmila Chakyr, the first deputy mayor of Reni.

It is noted that the debt also contained fines that were applied to the enterprise for several years

This year, the monthly payments of the Reni MTP to the community budget sometimes reached UAH 12 million. Such financial dynamics allowed the port to also pay off debts from salaries and personal income tax. Now the company has switched to a simplified taxation system, that is, it also pays a single tax to the local treasury.

During recent years, there has been a rapid increase in the debt of SE “Reni MTP” for all types of mandatory payments, including land tax. If as of April 2018, the company’s debt for the land amounted to UAH 16.5 million, then by July 2020 the amount of debt had already exceeded UAH 42 million, and at the end of 2021 it crossed the mark of UAH 63 million.

The Ren City Council has repeatedly made attempts to influence this situation — in particular, in July 2020, the state-owned enterprise “Reni MTP” was exempted from paying for land for a year. However, then the measures did not produce any result.

This year the situation has fundamentally changed. In addition, already in April, State Enterprise “Reni MTP” fully repaid salary debts, which as of the beginning of 2021 exceeded UAH 12 million. Mainly due to the fact that the Ministry of Infrastructure provided the enterprise with targeted financial assistance for the final liquidation of the arrears for payment of labor, although at that time the state stevedore paid a significant part of the debt with its own funds.
