Romania will ask the EU to extend restrictions on the import of Ukrainian grain

The Romanian government will ask the EU to extend restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products at least until the end of the year.

Romania wants to strengthen restrictions on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine. So, in addition to rapeseed, wheat, corn and sunflower, honey and meat can be included in the prohibited goods. This is due to the fact that the local agricultural market cannot compete with Ukrainian goods. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of Romania, Florin Barbu.

We remind you that the EU restriction on the import of some Ukrainian goods is valid until September 15. According to the European Commission, such a decision should help states bordering Ukraine to eliminate logistical problems.

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna said that the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain from some countries could play into the hands of Russia.

“The flow of Ukrainian agricultural exports is a matter of the survival of the Ukrainian economy, which was badly affected by the Russian war of aggression, so our joint priority should be the continuation of trade and protective measures regarding Ukrainian exports to the EU,” the politician added.
