Russian tanker explodes in Chukotka

The vessel was saved from fire and fuel spillage, but two crew members were injured.

A small tanker “Onemen” in the Chukchi Sea exploded with flammable liquid vapors. This is reported by Russian media.

The incident occurred 110 km from the city of Anadyr. The explosion did not cause further fire, but the captain and another crew member were seriously injured. Both victims were evacuated by air.

According to the Russians, the vessel’s tightness was not broken, and there is allegedly no threat of fuel leakage. The tanker is currently being towed to the Anadyr port.

Earlier, USM wrote that the Russian port of Ust-Luga obliged to inspect the hulls of vessels before allowing them to dock. This decision was made against the backdrop of a series of explosions on tankers heading to Russia.
