Russians attacked civilian vessels in Mykolaiv: two Ukrainians died


Russian UAVs attacked the port infrastructure of Mykolaiv, resulting in the deaths of two people – an investigation has been launched.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the facts of war crimes that caused the deaths of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, on the morning of July 17, 2026, the Russians attacked the port infrastructure of Mykolaiv with strike drones.

As a result of the enemy attack, three civilian vessels under foreign flags moored on the territory of the city’s port enterprises were damaged.

As a result of one of the hits, two citizens of Ukraine who were on board a foreign vessel died.

Prosecutors, together with investigators and other law enforcement officers, are documenting the consequences of another war crime committed by the aggressor state. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the SBU Department in the Mykolaiv region.
