Nibulon has signed a long-term contract for international transportation on the Danube

Nibulon has signed a long-term contract for international transportation on the Danube with the Romanian company TTS (Transport Trade Services) S.A.

This is one of the largest river logistics operators in Europe, Nibulon said.

For four months, Nibulon’s barge-tug caravans will perform international voyages on the Lower Danube between Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria.

Cooperation with TTS confirms the competitiveness of the Ukrainian fleet in the European transport services market and opens up new opportunities for Nibulon to develop international river logistics.

The first voyage has already been completed. Nibulon’s vessels delivered a batch of phosphate fertilizers from the port of Constanta (Romania) to Prahovo (Serbia), after which they carried out reverse loading with grain and oilseed crops in the Danube ports of Bulgaria for delivery to Constanta.

Working in a circular pattern allows to minimize empty vessel passages and use the fleet as efficiently as possible.

Transportation is carried out by barge-tug caravans, each of which can carry about 8,000 tons of cargo, and the crews consist entirely of Ukrainian sailors.

The development of international river transportation is one of the key areas of transformation of the logistics model of “Nibulon”. After losing the opportunity to work on the inland waterways of Ukraine, the company reoriented part of the fleet to the international market of the Danube.

USM previously reported that attacks on ports forced NIBULON to reconsider its purchase prices for grain.
