Russians attacked port infrastructure in Odesa region: foreign vessel caught fire, three sailors died

As a result of enemy shelling of the Odesa region, the port infrastructure and a foreign ship were damaged. Three crew members died as a result of the attack.

This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleh Kiper.

A moored commercial vessel under the flag of the Republic of Togo, which was transporting mineral fertilizers, caught fire.

According to preliminary information, three crew members were killed, five more were injured. They are being provided with all necessary medical assistance.

Relevant services are working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of another war crime by the Russian Federation.

Port infrastructure facilities and other civilian objects in the territories of the ports were also damaged, the USPA specified.

“In a few days, Russian terror has already claimed six lives. These are port workers, drivers and sailors who were doing their job and had nothing to do with the hostilities. We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.

Attacks on civilian ports and merchant ships are a deliberate attempt to disrupt the stable operation of Ukrainian seaports and intimidate international shipping. However, Ukrainian ports continue to perform their work, ensuring the functioning of the sea corridor and world trade,” the department commented.

Earlier, USM reported that the Russians attacked the port of Odesa region: two drivers were killed, two more people were injured.
