“Seamen” dodger scheme: USU head makes deal with investigators
Odesa activist Khrystyna Korol, who headed the sailors’ union and was detained in December 2022, began to cooperate with the investigation.
The head of the Ukrainian Seafarers Union (USU), Khrystyna Korol, who is suspected of being involved in a scheme for evaders to escape abroad under the guise of sailors of foreign ships, entered into an agreement with the investigation. Such data were published on the USU Facebook page.
Also, according to the decision of the Primorsky District Court of Odesa, as part of the criminal case, Korol’s bail amounting to UAH 1.5 million was transferred to a special account for the support of the Armed Forces.
As previously reported by USM, the Security Service of Ukraine eliminated the scheme for evaders to escape abroad under the guise of seamen of foreign ships. The cost of “services” was from 7 to 8 thousand dollars per person. The amount was calculated depending on the circumstances and urgency of the “foreign flight”.
