Situation report as of the morning of March 7th, – General Staff

This is the twelfth day of the Ukrainian people’s confrontation with the Russian military invasion.

The enemy continues its offensive against Ukraine. The occupiers continue rocket and artillery strikes on Ukrainian settlements.

The invaders use the airfield network of the Republic of Belarus to carry out air strikes on Ukraine. The occupiers violate the rules of International Humanitarian Law, shelling the civilian population, “green corridors”, taking women and children hostage, placing equipment and ammunition in residential areas of cities, and artificially creating a humanitarian crisis in the captured settlements.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine carry out a defensive operation in all directions of enemy movement. The enemy continues to suffer heavy losses in manpower, ground equipment and means of air attack. Surrendered to captivity.

Civil infrastructure was destroyed in the cities of Ovruch, Malin, Korosten, with Vyazovka, Korosten district. In the Zaporizhzhia region, near the settlements of Huliaipole, Orekhiv and in the direction of Vasylivka-Balabino, the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting a defensive operation. Polohi, Vasylivka, Tokmak – temporarily occupied. The nuclear power plant remains under the control of the Russian aggressor.

In the Rivne region it is quiet, in Vinnitsa the night was relatively quiet, but from 5:30 there were air-alarms again.

In the Khmelnytsky region announced an air alert. At the Starokonstantinovsky airfield, after yesterday’s strikes, three people were injured, one died.

In Cherkasy and in the Lviv region the night passed quietly.

In Chernihiv, an air raid alert was announced three times during the night. At night, the Russian army randomly shelled the residential areas of Chernihiv, the city center. The aggressor got into a school, residential buildings, part of the city without electricity. Fighting continues on the outskirts of Chernihiv, as well as in the region.

In the Sumy region, the night passed without air strikes. The situation in Okhtyrka and Trostianets remains difficult. Night air alerts were announced in Poltava, Lubny and Piriatin. It was calm in Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk.

The night was quiet in Luhansk Region, but in the morning the enemy shelled Severodonetsk with heavy artillery. Popasna has been under heavy shelling for two days now. An evacuation train with more than 2,000 people left there yesterday.

In the Donetsk region, Mariupol and Volnovakha are under siege, fighting is going on. In Kramatorsk last night, an air raid alert was announced. Humanitarian cargoes are sent to the region, a green corridor is needed.

It was quiet in Ternopil, and the night passed quietly in Odesa, too.

Mykolaiv was fitrd by Russian troops from “Grad”. In other districts of the Mykolaiv region, the night was relatively calm.

In the Dnipro region, an air raid alert was announced three times during the night, but now everything is calm.

In Kharkov, air attacks on residential buildings in different parts of the city went on all night.
