Slovakia strengthens control over Ukrainian grain

Slovakia is strengthening transit control of Ukrainian grain through its territory.

Now grain from Ukraine will be checked for compliance with quality criteria in the same way as the products of local producers. Control of the transit of Ukrainian grain through the territory of Slovakia is also being strengthened. This was stated by the general secretary of the service department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Zuzana Nuzovska.

“All consignments of grain that will transit through our border will be sealed by employees of the financial department. At the same time, batches destined for Slovakia will be checked according to Slovak standards,” Nuzovska stressed.

The country implements such measures due to the fact that cheap and high-quality Ukrainian grain is quickly capturing the Eastern European market. Local farmers cannot compete with Ukrainian products, which is why grain prices on local markets are falling.

Recently, USM wrote that Ukraine and Poland agreed on the simplification of grain transit. Even earlier, the European Commission approved payments to countries whose markets were affected by the influx of Ukrainian grain. We are talking about Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.
