Sunflower prices in Ukraine plummet after Russian strike on Pivdennyi port

After the attack on the oil extraction plant in the port of Pivdenny in Ukraine, sunflower prices collapsed.

This was reported by the Electronic Grain Exchange of Ukraine.

On December 22, processors in Ukraine sharply reduced purchase prices for sunflower due to the suspension of oil and meal exports from the Black Sea ports, as well as increased risks of attacks on other SEZs.

Thus, purchase prices for sunflower fell by 1000-1300 UAH/t to 27000-27500 UAH/t or $560-570/t excluding VAT (for oil content of 50%) with delivery to the plant.

Processors have quite large stocks of sunflower, but the suspension of exports by sea will force them to reorient exports through the western borders, as in 2022, which will increase logistics costs.

We remind you that on the morning of December 20, the enemy carried out another shelling of the port of Pivdennyi. Tanks were hit.

Earlier, USM reported that attacks on vessels in the Black Sea led to an increase in insurance premiums.
