Sweden will transfer to Ukraine the “Caffa” vessel involved in the export of grain from the occupied territories

A Swedish court has confirmed the transfer to Ukraine of the “Caffa” vessel, which the Russians used to transport grain from the temporarily occupied territories.

This was reported by the Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy of Ukraine Vladyslav Vlasyuk.

“The Supreme Court of Sweden has finally returned the confiscated sanctioned vessel Caffa to Ukraine,” he noted.

Details of the court decision are not being disclosed at this time.

The Caffa vessel was detained by Swedish authorities on March 6 in the Baltic Sea on suspicion of using a false flag, as well as violating the requirements of maritime law and shipping safety.

According to the Ukrainian side, the vessel participated in the transportation of grain illegally transported from the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia, which is why it was included in the sanctions lists and became the subject of an investigation.

Recall that in late April, a Swedish court ordered the arrest of Caffa, and in early June agreed to its transfer to Ukraine upon request. At the time, Ukrainian officials reported the decision as confirmation of the ship’s arrest. Now, according to Vlasyuk, the Swedish Supreme Court has finally concluded the case and ruled in Ukraine’s favor.
