The Bosphorus Strait was blocked by a ship going to russian federation
Vessel traffic in the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul (Turkey) was suspended on the night of October 13-14 due to an accident on the ANNITA cargo ship.
The bulk carrier ANNITA’s engine broke down, the General Directorate of Coast Guard of Turkey reported. The ship was heading from the Turkish port of Tuzla to the russian port of Kavkaz, Anadolu writes.
Several tugboats and a high-speed rescue boat were dispatched to the scene. The dry cargo was evacuated, the strait was unblocked already at 1.30.
At the moment, the ship is still in the Bosphorus, but the passage is not obstructed. ANNITA (IMO: 9282869) is a bulk carrier under the flag of Greece, built in 2005. The deadweight of the ship is 53,688 tons, the length is 190 meters, the width is 32 meters. According to the Baltic Shipping portal, the manager and owner of the ship is the Greek Halcoussis.
