The EU again allows restrictions on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine
The European Union may limit agricultural imports of Ukraine to five neighboring countries after the extension of the “economic visa-free regime”.
The executive vice-president of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, told about the likely extension of the ban, writes Ukrinfrom .
According to Dombrovskis, after the decision to extend the so-called autonomous trade measures for another year, the EU has a “legal basis for the possible extension of exceptional protective measures” against Ukrainian agricultural imports.
“Because the current exceptional protective measures, which were provided by the previous autonomous regulatory rules, expire on June 5,” he explained.
The vice-president of the European Commission added that the EU continues to discuss this topic with the five member states affected by the restrictions on Ukrainian imports, as well as with Ukraine. If the restrictions are extended, the parties will determine new dates.
