The EU finally approved the “trade visa-free” for Ukraine

The European Union has extended “visa-free trade” with Ukraine for another year.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.

“This is duty-free and quota-free trade for another year. Important support for our producers, exports and economy. We are continuing integration into the EU at an accelerated pace,” the statement said.

In this way, the temporary suspension of import duties and quotas for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products was extended until June 5, 2025.

At the same time, the European Commission is authorized to take quick measures and introduce any necessary measures in case of significant disruptions on the EU market or on the markets of one or more EU countries due to Ukrainian imports.

As a reminder, the EU introduced autonomous measures for trade with Ukraine on June 4, 2022, to support Ukrainian producers and the economy in conditions where the country is forced to defend itself against the background of Russian aggression.

In May 2023, the European Parliament extended duty-free trade with Ukraine for another year.

As USM previously wrote, due to the trade compromise with the EU, Ukraine may lose 86 million euros.
