EU ambassadors approve new trade agreement with Ukraine

Ambassadors of the European Union member states approved a new trade agreement with Ukraine in Brussels.

This is a new version of the text of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) agreement between the EU and Ukraine, reports “European Pravda”.

The agreement is to replace the “trade visa-free regime”, which expired in June 2025.

The new trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine was approved at the level of EU ambassadors. It will be approved on Monday, October 13, by EU ministers.

“I can confirm that the act will be adopted on Monday by the EU Council on Justice and Home Affairs,” a European official familiar with the process told the publication on condition of anonymity.

According to him, after approval by the EU, the agreement on a deep and comprehensive free trade area with Ukraine “will be approved within the framework of the EU-Ukraine Association Committee in trade configuration, established in accordance with the Association Agreement, after Ukraine also approves its position.”

After the above procedures, the new rules of trade between Ukraine and the EU will enter into force.

Earlier, USM reported that the European Commission will not review the trade agreement with Ukraine, despite criticism from some EU countries.
