The flag of Ukraine was solemnly raised on the new USPA pilot boat
On Tuesday, December 3, a flag-raising ceremony was held in the Danube region on the new pilot boat “Bolotin”.
This boat has become a symbol of the modernization of Ukrainian port infrastructure, implemented thanks to the support of American partners within the framework of the USAID project “Economic Support to Ukraine”, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority reports.
The boat was named in honor of the outstanding sailor Borys Pavlovich Bolotin, who made a significant contribution to the development of pilotage in Ukraine.
“He went from a sailor to the head of the Unified Maritime Pilotage Service “Danube”, setting a high standard of professionalism and responsibility,” the USPA noted.
In early November, the SE “USPA” received the boat “Bolotin”, built in Turkey, in the city of Izmir. The vessel is specially designed to operate in closed harbors and rivers, which will ensure the effectiveness of pilotage operations in the ports of the Danube region, such as Reni, Izmail, and Ust-Dunaysk.
This is the second pilot boat transferred to Ukraine through cooperation with USAID. The first vessel was built by the Ukrainian company UMS MARYN and transferred in May of this year.
The arrival of the third boat, which is also being built in Izmir, is expected in the coming months.
The USPA noted that thanks to systematic cooperation with donors, more than 1.56 billion hryvnias of technical assistance have already been attracted for the modernization of port infrastructure, which significantly increases the safety and efficiency of maritime operations.
