The Kremlin banned ships carrying stolen grain from entering Syrian ports even before Assad was overthrown
Russia instructed ships carrying stolen Ukrainian grain not to enter Syrian ports even before the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
Even before the overthrow of the Assad regime, the Kremlin ordered ships carrying stolen Ukrainian grain not to enter Syrian ports, the Center for National Resistance reports.
For years, the Russians have used the Syrian port of Tartus to transship stolen Ukrainian grain.
It seems that Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized Assad’s defeat ahead of time, so he decided not to risk the stolen cargo and initiated a decision to ban entry to Syrian ports.
According to the Center for National Resistance, Assad’s inner circle, which earns money from Ukrainian grain, suffered serious financial losses, as they were left without food and currency. And the order not to enter the port further demoralized the dictator’s army and hastened his downfall.
Earlier, USM reported that the Russians had brought in special forces to help the ships retreat from Syria.
