The load on “Ukrzaliznytsia” decreased due to uncertainty regarding the “grain corridor”

Due to the uncertainty of the future fate of the “grain corridor”, in the first days of November, the load on the railway network of Ukraine decreased.

“I would like to note that in the last days of October and the first days of November, due to the actions of russian federation regarding the suspension of participation in the grain agreement, we had a significant decrease in grain load on the network. For example, on November 1, the load dropped to 500 wagons per day, on November 2 it slightly increased to 779 wagons. Let me remind you that we were already leaving almost 2,000 wagons a day,” said Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of UZ.

The demand for “Ukrzaliznytsia” grain trucks at electronic auctions in Prozorro has also worsened, Rail.insider writes during an online meeting of railway workers with participants in the agricultural transportation market.

In general, according to Tkachev, due to the actions of russian federation, a significant reduction in load lasted for 4-5 days. In addition, the demand for CTL grain trucks on electronic auctions decreased.

The number of people willing to drive to the western border crossings has also increased.

“We have a very large number of announced plans. I hope that in the coming days we will be able to export grain at the same pace,” said Tkachev.

It is noted that currently the situation in the ports remains difficult due to the delays of ships after the sabotage of russian inspectors in Istanbul. Yes, there are 12 abandoned trains in the port of Odesa. In total, about 4,000 wagons arrive at the ports, but the capacity of the port elevators is not enough to receive them.
