The Ministry of Agrarian Policy is developing a new export strategy for Ukraine
Oilseeds and grains, as well as residues from the food industry, have the greatest export potential.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, is working on creating a new export strategy for the agricultural sector. This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Vitaliy Koval, APK-Inform writes.
“Ukraine is actively working on updating its export strategy, taking into account new opportunities and challenges arising from the EU’s tougher policy towards Ukrainian agricultural products,” the head of the department said.
The minister stressed the importance of strengthening the competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural products on international markets. According to him, agricultural producers need to adapt to EU requirements and standards, reorient sales markets, find new ones and expand the geography of exports. In addition, it is necessary to develop the production of agricultural products with added value, which will help increase income.
The greatest potential for increasing exports is in such commodity groups as oilseeds, grains, as well as residues and waste from the food industry, Koval believes.
USM recently wrote that demand for Ukrainian sunflower is growing due to changes in export conditions.
