The Ministry of Development plans to increase railway fares by 30% from August 1

The ministry believes that this will alleviate the financial crisis situation in UZ and ensure uninterrupted rail transportation.

This is stated in the draft order of the Ministry  for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Coefficients Applied to the Tariffs of the Collection of Tariffs for Freight Transportation by Rail within Ukraine and Related Services”.

This document proposes to increase the level of tariffs for freight transportation within Ukraine from August 1, 2026 by 30%.

The ministry expects that the increase in freight railway tariffs will provide Ukrzaliznytsia JSC with additional revenue from freight transportation in the amount of UAH 8.6 billion in 2026.

This will also help alleviate the manifestations of the financial crisis situation in UZ and ensure uninterrupted rail transportation.

The draft order also provides that for tariffs for the transportation of empty wagons, the coefficients are to be unified to the level of the current 3rd tariff class, i.e. an increase of 60%.

Recall that several associations previously opposed the tariff increase, in particular, UCAB and EBA.
