The modernization of the first UDS ship is approaching the finish line

At the Austrian shipyard ÖSWAG, the first of two main engines was installed on the steamship “Kapitan Antypov” .

The most important stages of modernization of the vessel “Kapitan Antypov” have already been completed, Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company reports.

“Were there any difficulties during the preparation for installation? Yes of course. As our partners from ÖSWAG say, almost every pilot project has to be adjusted in the course of work. Even because the ship was repaired and changed many times during its operation. It is practically impossible to predict absolutely everything in advance,” the message reads.

The UDS emphasized that the project fully meets the expectations of international donors. The company is also preparing three more self-propelled vessels of this series for shipment to ÖSWAG.

Previously, USM reported that at the beginning of August 2024, the first of five modernized vessels with new engines and a control system will leave Linz, Austria, for Ukraine.
