The passage of ships through the Bosphorus was temporarily suspended

The Turkish Coast Guard has temporarily closed the Bosphorus Strait to the passage of ships. The reason is that the dry cargo Ilyas Konan, which was on its way from russia to the Turkish port of Kocaeli, broke down.

The decision to suspend shipping in both directions was made on Sunday at 18:00 local time, local NTV reports.

The vessel Ilyas Konan was brought to the parking lot of Akhirkapa with the help of tugs. At 9:20 p.m., the Turkish Coast Guard announced the resumption of shipping through the strait.

Earlier, USM reported that the Turkish authorities had released the bulk carrier Bomustafa O, which was transporting barley from the occupied territories of Ukraine. In this way, the country ignored Ukraine’s appeal regarding the seizure of the vessel and cargo.
