The SBU showed unique footage of the liberation of Zmiinyi Island (video)

The Security Service of Ukraine has shown unique archival footage of the liberation of Zmiinyi Island from the Russian invaders.

In June 2022, the special forces of the SBU “A” TsSO, together with their combat comrades from the Defense Intelligence of the MoD and the Armed Forces, conducted a unique and extremely important operation, the SBU reported.

The operation consisted of several stages and was of strategic importance, because since then the gradual displacement of the enemy from the Black Sea began. The special operation to liberate Zmiinyi became an example of boundless bravery and professionalism of the soldiers of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

We will remind, on June 30, 2022, the Operational Command “Pivden”, and later the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, confirmed that the Russian invaders had left Zmiinyi Island.

From a military point of view, Snake Island was finally liberated a week later, namely on July 7, 2022.

As previously reported by USM, the border guards who defended Zmiiny Island were awarded the III degree “For Courage” orders.
