The unloading of wagons with agricultural products increased in the ports of Great Odesa

In the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk, the unloading of agricultural products from wagons is increasing.

This week there is an increase in the number of wagons moving in the direction of the ports of Greater Odessa. If at the beginning of the week there were 900 such units, now there are 1,512, reports Rail.insider with reference to the deputy director of the commercial work department of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” Valery Tkachev

“The average unloading rate was approximately 92 wagons. The day before yesterday (May 23) 99 wagons were unloaded. And yesterday (May 24) — 186 wagons. That is, the unloading of grain in the ports of Greater Odessa has almost doubled,” the official emphasized.

He also expressed hope that this trend will continue and “the ports will reach the figures they had – almost 900 wagons were unloaded per day.”

“But this is impossible until the Southern port, which carried out the largest volume of transshipment of grain cargoes, becomes operational. So we are waiting for a decision on the Pivdenny port,” said Valery Tkachev.

The representative of the UZ also spoke about the situation in the port of Izmail. At the beginning of the week, 2,428 wagons with grain moved in the direction of this port, and now – 2,215. Moreover, if on May 23, only 60 wagons were unloaded due to rain, then on May 24 – already 106 wagons. So currently the queue is 21 days.

The head of the directorate for work with port stations of the Odesa Railway (DN-5) regional branch, Volodymyr Kotelin, spoke about the restoration of the “grain corridor”. During the period from May 19 to today, 14 vessels passed the commission. Eight of them are for Odesa port, six are for Chornomorsk. Today, six vessels are in the inspection zone (two for Odesa port, four for Chornomorsk). Also, 12 are registered for inspection today, and another 36 are awaiting registration for inspection.
