The US has imposed repeated sanctions against vessels involved in Nord Stream 2
The US State Department announced the introduction of new sanctions against companies, vessels and individuals involved in the Russian gas pipeline “Nord Stream-2”.

11 Russian companies were added to the sanctions list, including Nord Stream 2 AG – the project operator, which provided insurance to the companies participating in the project, MTV LLC and its founder Matthias Warnig, who was previously the executive director of Nord Stream 2 AG.
The Russian Maritime Rescue Service was also sanctioned.
In total, 17 vessels related to the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline were added to the sanctions list. Among them: “Akademik Cherskiy” (IMO:8770261), “Ivan Sidorenko” (IMO:9624213) and “Ostap Sheremeta” (IMO:9624225), Antey and Hermes, Lamantin (IMO:9396854), Fiona, as well as rescue vessels.
“We will continue to work to ensure that Russia can never use its energy resources and positions in the energy sector as a weapon to achieve political goals,” said US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel during a briefing.
As previously reported by USM, on December 17, the United Kingdom imposed new sanctions against Russian tankers.
