The UZ is waiting for the cancellation of the conventions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU
Ukrzaliznytsia is waiting for the cancellation of unilateral conventions of European carriers regarding the import of Ukrainian grain.
The actions of Ukrzaliznytsia were discussed during a meeting of representatives of the UZ and the agricultural market on May 4, writes Rail.insider. Valery Tkachov, deputy director of the commercial work department of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC, reminded that the general EU ban on the import of grain to five neighboring countries has entered into force. Accordingly, each of these countries should lift their unilateral bans on the import of agricultural products.
“We are waiting for all these countries to cancel unilateral restrictions and we will work within the general European import ban by June 5,” Valery Tkachev said.
The Polish company PKP LHS has already provided its clarifications on this matter. According to them, a new convention will be introduced from May 3 to June 5, taking into account the decision of the EU. At the same time, the carrier has not canceled the conventions of April 13 and 15 for the transportation of cereals, plant products, waste, etc. Therefore, Ukrzaliznytsia is waiting for the appropriate actions of the company.
Another large Polish carrier, PKP Cargo, has not announced any changes yet. The situation is the same with Slovak and Hungarian carriers. Ukrzaliznytsia hopes to resolve the situation in the near future.
“Carriers must provide Ukrzaliznytsia with specified conventional prohibitions, and we will accordingly cancel those introduced in April. There will be one ban, which will apply to these four crops in the import combination,” explained the representative of the UZ.
