The Verkhovna Rada discussed the issue of UZ tariffs for freight transportation

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has once again come under criticism due to freight tariffs.

The issue of tariffs was discussed during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on October 21, writes RAIL.insider.

People’s Deputy Serhiy Velmozhny stated that the current differentiation of tariffs creates preferences for some and significant obstacles for others, distorting the market.

“Our goal is to put an end to this injustice and ensure equal and transparent conditions of access to freight rail transportation for all business entities. And this is not only about fairness, but also about the financial condition of Ukrzaliznytsia itself, which is of concern,” he emphasized.

At the same time, the Federation of Transport Employers of Ukraine announced that JSC Ukrzaliznytsia plans to conduct another indexation of freight tariffs – by 27% in 2025 and another 11% from January 1, 2026.

Recall that in September this year, port operators of the Odesa Sea Port collectively appealed to the authorities due to the cost of transporting goods by rail to the ports.

Earlier, USM reported that business opposes the introduction of differentiated coefficients to railway tariffs in the direction of the ports.
