The Verkhovna Rada proposes to introduce sanctions against the vessels of the “shadow fleet”

The Verkhovna Rada has registered a draft law amending the Law “On Sanctions” to apply sanctions to ships and aircraft.

The authors of document No. 13020 were a group of deputies led by the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transport and Infrastructure Yulia Klymenko, enkorr reports.

The draft law provides for the introduction of sanctions against ships and aircraft involved in the Russian “shadow” transportation of oil and oil products, weapons and the military.

According to the authors of the draft, the current legislation of Ukraine allows for the imposition of sanctions on legal entities and individuals, but does not allow for the sanctioning of ships and aircraft. The changes proposed in the document will allow this.

The explanatory note states that the implementation of the act will ensure the introduction of sanctions on the “shadow fleet” of Russia, which will lead to restrictions on the ability of this fleet to transport oil and other things, and will reduce the revenues and capabilities of the state budget and the military machine of the Russian Federation.

Also, according to the deputies, the announcement of sanctions by Ukraine will show the world community the introduction of systemic measures to reduce the spread of the influence of Russian aggression both against Ukraine and in the world.

Earlier, USM reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had introduced sanctions against the captains of the “shadow fleet” of Russia.
