Turkey and Russia plan to discuss the revival of the Black Sea Grain Initiative
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he plans to talk to Putin about reviving the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
“Soon we will meet with the president of the Russian Federation and say: ‘We will do everything possible to make the grain corridor work.’ I hope we will continue our journey with positive answers,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by Anadolu.
Describing the grain corridor mechanism as a “positive step towards a just world”, Erdogan said Turkey would monitor the implementation of the plan.
“Let’s find a way to manage the grain corridor, no matter what,” Erdogan emphasized.
It will be recalled that on July 17, Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Agreement, declaring that the Russian part of the agreement was not fulfilled. Russia sought easing of banking restrictions and the ability to ship its fertilizers before returning to the agreement. Since then, Ukraine has launched its own grain corridor, through which more than 300 ships have already passed.
