UDS agrees with Austrian Rhenus on joint transportation

The team of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company visited the Austrian city of Krems and discussed with representatives of Rhenus Logistics the prospect of creating joint logistics chains.

UDS has offered Austrian colleagues to expand cooperation, the head of the enterprise, Dmytro Moskalenko, said.

According to him, Rhenus Group is a well-known logistics giant that works all over the world. Terminals, logistics complexes and centers, sea and river transportation, railway, road transport – Rhenus operates a global logistics network. The company is also present on the Danube.

Yes, Rhenus PartnerShip offers river transport services. And Rhenus Donauhafen Krems works as a trimodal logistics center, combining fleet, railway and motor transport.

“Directors of both divisions, Michael Ploch and Gerhard Gussmagg, believe that Danube logistics is not going through the best of times today. In the EU, the share of large raw materials production is decreasing. However, river transportation has a chance not only to maintain, but also to improve its position. Our strengths are low cost and environmental friendliness. That’s why Rhenus is watching the UDS fleet modernization project with interest,” the head of the UDS notes.

He added that Rhenus Group already has a Ukrainian division that operates a logistics complex.

“However, we suggest to our colleagues to expand cooperation. Ukrainian companies are potentially interested in transportation to the countries of Western and Central Europe from the Danube region. UDS ensures transshipment in Ukraine and cargo delivery to the ports of the Upper Danube, but we need a partner that guarantees the second part of the chain – from the port to the final warehouse,” said Dmytro Moskalenko.

In addition, UDS is ready to offer European partners a production site in Ukraine. Currently, UDS and Rhenus Logistics have agreed to continue consultations after analyzing all offers and possibilities.
