UDS will increase the volume of transportation of Ukrainian iron ore raw materials

The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company has extended the agreement with consumers of iron ore raw materials in European countries.

The contract for next year provides for a 30% increase in volumes, the UDS reported.

Deputy General Director of the UDS Vladyslav Belakh said that the delivery of iron ore raw materials (IOR) will be handled by the modernized UDS fleet, which will provide the enterprise with a significantly higher level of profitability.

There are also preliminary agreements with producers and traders of agricultural products in European countries.

“Serbian farmers faced the problem of low quality corn this year, which negatively affected the volume of exports. Next year, the situation with the export of agricultural products from Serbia should improve significantly. From March, we expect a significant increase in work for the UDS fleet. In 2025, we expect to export up to 600 thousand tons of agricultural products from Serbia. Preliminary agreements have been reached with both large traders and local manufacturers who independently handle logistics to the seaport of Constanta,” Vladislav Belach explained.

It will contribute to increasing the UDS fleet’s workload and reducing the supply from other carriers.

As for agricultural exports from Ukraine, without state support, ensuring a guaranteed export flow through the Danube is almost impossible. The issue of a discount on the railway tariff to Izmail has not been resolved yet.

“We have essentially already reserved the minimum required UDS volume of cargo for next year, but the increase in volumes depends on the state policy on supporting and developing Danube logistics,” Vladislav Belach concluded.
