Ukraine and Estonia discussed a plan to restore port infrastructure
On Monday, January 27, a memorandum of understanding was signed in Odesa on the implementation of the Plan for the Restoration of the Maritime Sector of Ukraine.
The memorandum was signed by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration – Minister Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba and Minister of Infrastructure of Estonia Vladimir Svet, writes Ukrinform.
“Today we discussed the restoration plan for the Ukrainian maritime infrastructure. In our maritime restoration plan, we are focused not only on supporting the Navy, but also on attracting investments for the development and restoration of port infrastructure,” the Estonian minister emphasized.
He also added that this plan will help to start restoring the infrastructure now and prepare for a larger-scale restoration of the infrastructure and economy after the end of the war.
In turn, Oleksiy Kuleba reported that the plan has two major components – civilian and military. The first concerns measures that will help protect critical infrastructure, as well as obtain the funds necessary to ensure the vital activity of the port.
“The signing of the memorandum is a signal to partners to join this initiative. We will talk about creating a working group that will work out the details of this mechanism. Our task is to develop a document that will help us recover, as well as coordinate with international partners to prevent any threats in this direction,” Kuleba noted.
