Ukraine and Moldova will build a bridge across the Dnister: the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft agreement

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft Agreement with the Government of Moldova on the construction of a bridge across the Dnister River.

A road border crossing will be built across the Dnister River on the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border, in the area of Yampil-Koseuts settlements, said Taras Melnychuk, a permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada.

In Kyiv, on December 6, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Natalia Havrilice agreed on the construction of a road bridge across the Dniester on the common border by mid-2023.

In 2021, the presidents of both countries discussed the construction of a new cross-border bridge across the Dniester. In the same year, the Reconstruction Agency announced the procurement of construction works.

The bridge crossing over the Dnister involved the construction of two approaches: 1.6 km from the Ukrainian side and 5 km from the Moldovan side. The bridge was supposed to provide access to the Ukrainian road T-02–02 Mohyliv-Podilskyi — Yampil — Bershad — Uman and the Moldovan M-2.
